Today I want to introduce you a travel app I collaborate with by writing travel guides: GPSMyCity. This app allows you to access thousands of articles about countless cities around the world. I've always loved buying travel guides. That moment when you already have decided your travel destination, bought the flight and go to your favorite bookstore to find the perfect travel guide. Flip through the pages, reread the back covers, check the cities included, etc. It's something I really enjoy. However, I believe that the paper guides are interesting for the first contact with your destination and to inform yourself about the essentials of each city. But, if you are looking to soak up the local culture and get away from the tourist spots, often they fall short.
Siempre me ha encantado comprar guías de viaje. Ese momento en el que ya tienes decidido tu destino, el vuelo comprado y vas a tu librería favorita a buscar la guía de viajes perfecta. Hojear las páginas, releer las contraportadas, ver la guía de ciudades que incluye, etc. Es algo con lo que realmente disfruto. Sin embargo, creo que las guías en papel son interesantes para una primera toma de contacto y para informarte sobre los monumentos indispensables de cada ciudad. On the other hand, these guides soon expire and it's important to always check the year of publication to have the latest information. Also, I often can't find enough information about destinations that may not be as popular as for example, Route 61 that I made recently by the southern US. Therefore, I consider essential to be able to access guides constantly updated by travelers worldwide.
