From Oslo we went to Bergen by the famous Bergensbanen train line, known for being one of the most spectacular train journeys (at the end of the post you will find practical information about this train). We stayed in Bergen for 3 days and only rained one (which is pretty awesome for city standards).
De Oslo fuimos a Bergen en el famoso tren de la línea Bergensbanen, conocido por realizar unos de los trayectos en tren más espectaculares. Al final del post os detallaré la información práctica sobre este trayecto. En Bergen disfrutamos de 3 días completos, de los cuales, solo nos llovió uno (que para los estándares de la ciudad es muchísima suerte!).

Nos gustó mucho Bergen, pero más que sus atracciones clásicas, el caminar sin rumbo descubriendo sus maravillosas casas y callecitas. Teníamos pensado realizar algun crucero de día, pero finalmente lo dejamos pasar por el precio y porque el tiempo no era muy favorable. Lo que no te puedes perder de Bergen:
1. Bryggen, or the famous wooden houses in the harbor. Their backsyards are freely accessible and beautiful to walk through.
2. Fløyen, the top of the mountain from where you can enjoy great views. You can go up by its famous cable car or on foot. It's about 45 minutes walking uphill, less downhill. We went by cable car (it's worth the experience ) and down walking. The walk provides beautiful views and is very well marked. The price is 43 NOK single journey and 85 NOK round trip.
1. Bryggen, o las famosas casas de madera en el puerto. Sus partes traseras son accesibles gratuitamente y caminarás por patios de manera increíbles.
2. Fløyen, la cima de la montaña desde donde podrás disfrutar de excelentes vistas. Puedes subir en su famoso funicular o a pie. A pie son unos 45 minutos de subida, algo menos de bajada. Nosotros subimos en funicular (es una experiencia que vale la pena) y bajamos caminando. El paseo proporciona unas vistas preciosas y está perfectamente señalizado. El precio es: 43 NOK ida y 85 NOK i/v.
3. The center (A):
- Torgallmenningen, the shopping area.
- The Blue Stone, the central monument from where you see the main streets and, on the hill, St. John's church.
4. Vagsbunnen (B) is the neighborhood just behind the harbor. Here you will find some thrift stores, tattoo artists, antiques and the highest hipster atmosphere of the city (highly concentrated). The most important street is Hollendergaten. If you want to buy vinyls or you're looking for national, or even local, music Robot store is THE store. In this area you will also find several cafes.

4. Vagsbunnen (B) is the neighborhood just behind the harbor. Here you will find some thrift stores, tattoo artists, antiques and the highest hipster atmosphere of the city (highly concentrated). The most important street is Hollendergaten. If you want to buy vinyls or you're looking for national, or even local, music Robot store is THE store. In this area you will also find several cafes.
3. El centro (A):
- Torgallmenningen su calle comercial.
- The Blue Stone, el monumento central desde donde ves las calles principales de la ciudad y, a lo alto, la iglesia Johanneskirken.
4. Vagsbunnen (B): es el barrio justo detrás del puerto. Aquí encontraréis algunas tiendas de segunda mano, tatuadores, antigüedades y el ambiente más hipster de la ciudad (muy concentrado). La calle más importante es Hollendergaten. Si quieres comprar vinilos o buscas música nacional o, incluso local, tu tienda es Robot. En esta zona también encontrarás varios cafés.
5. Sandviken (C): the area between Bryggen, the funicular and the church of Sandviskirken is a very nice area to walk and admire countless beautiful typical Norwegian wooden houses (with remind those of the far west). Walk around and imagine their interiors.
6. University area (D): the area around is also very nice. There you can see the famous Johanneskirken and walk through Nygårdsparken park.
5. Sandviken (C): la zona situada entre Bryggen, el funicular y la iglesia de Sandviskirken es un área muy bonita para pasear y admirar infinidad de preciosas casas típicas noruegas, de madera y con ese punto del lejano oeste. Camina sin rumbo y sueña con como serán sus interiores.
6. Zona de la universidad (D): los alrededores de la universidad también son muy bonitos. Ahi puedes ver la famosa Johanneskirken y también pasear por el parque Nygårdsparken.
Tips:
- The train from Oslo to Bergen is worth. The landscape is unique and it goes to a 1222m height. The trains are very comfortable and have wifi. Go in the morning, so you have sunlight all the way. The ticket will come out much cheaper if purchased online in advance. We paid 25€ per person this way (the normal price is around 75€ ). I found the most beautiful landscape on the left side, but is quite balanced.
- The Fish Market (3) is nothing special. You can see it because is central and you have to pass by anyway for the other attractions. But don't go with high expectations. Food is a ripoff. Not worth it. We tried a combo plate with shrimp, wild salmon, smoked salmon, whale, etc. for 285 NOK. They didn't even gave us some bread or any special sauce ...
- We stayed in this airbnb house. Very basic and simple, yet central and cheap price for Bergen standards.
- We liked nobel bopel coffee. They have brunch too.
Consejos prácticos:
- El tren desde Oslo a Bergen merece la pena. El paisaje es único y subes hasta una altura de 1222m. Los trenes son muy cómodos y tienen wifi. Es mejor ir por la mañana, para que tener luz durante todo el trayecto. El billete te saldrá mucho más barato si lo compras por internet con anterioridad. Nos costo 25€ por persona de esta forma (su precio normal creo que ronda los 75€). Me pareció que el paisaje más bonito estaba en mayor medida en el lado izquierdo, excepto al final que a la derecha era más impresionante.
- El mercado del pescado (3) no es nada especial. Lo podeis ver porque pasaréis siempre por ahí, pero no vayáis con muchas expectativas. La comida es un timo. No merece la pena. Probamos un plato combinado con gambas, salmon salvaje, salmon ahumado, ballena, etc. por 285 NOK. Ni siquiera nos dieron algo de pan o lo acompañaron de alguna salsa especial...
- Nos alojamos en esta casa de airbnb. Muy básica y sencilla, pero céntrica y barata para los precios de Bergen.
- Nos gustó mucho este café nobel bopel donde hay brunch también.
