Red Kyoto

From Tokyo we went to Kyoto by Shinkansen, the best way to travel in Japan! We left our luggages in our accommodation for the next four days, Piece Hostel. Get accommodation in Kyoto during this period is really complicated. Japanese love to visit this city in autumn when the leaves turn into an incredible deep red. A month before everything was fully booked. Searching and searching, we found this wonderful hostel in an unbeatable location. Of course, it was all booked. But I called and asked them to put us on the waiting list and we were lucky! If you go to Kyoto, I totally recommend you this place: beautiful, well located and with a very nice staff.

Desde Tokyo fuimos a Kyoto en Shinkansen, la mejor forma de desplazarse en Japón! Primero fuimos al que sería nuestro alojamiento los próximos cuatro días, Piece Hostel. Conseguir alojamiento en Kyoto en esta semana es realmente complicado. Los japoneses adoran visitar esta ciudad en otoño, cuando sus hojas se vuelven de un rojo intenso increíble. Un mes antes estaba todo reservado. Buscando y buscando, encontramos este maravilloso hostel en una zona inmejorable. Por supuesto, estaba todo reservado. Pero les llamé y solicité que nos pusieran en la lista de espera y tuvimos suerte! Si vais a Kyoto, os lo recomiendo totalmente! Es precioso, céntrico y con un personal amabilísimo.

First we visited Byodo-in temple. On my first travel to Japan I didn't went to see it. This time, however, my mother insisted several times that I HAD to see it. So, we went! The Byodo-in is a Buddhist temple built originally as a rural villa. The main structure of the temple is the Hall of the Phoenix, the only original structure left standing. Actually, what we liked most, was the road that ran through the village to the temple.

De aquí nos fuimos a visitar el templo Byodo-in. La primera vez que visité Japón no fui a verlo. Esta vez, sin embargo, mi madre insistió varias veces que TENÍA que verlo. Así que. fuimos! El Byodo-in es un templo budista construido originariamente como un chalet rural. La estructura más importante del templo es el Salón del Fénix, única estructura original que queda en pie. Realmente, lo que más nos gustó, fue el camino que a atravesaba el pueblo y te conducía hasta el templo.

After this visit we went to one of my favorite places in Japan. A place that is branded in my brain since my first visit to Japan: Fushimi Inari Shrine. I remember cycling aimless and discovering one of their toriis, traditional Japanese bows. We parked our bikes without knowing where we were and began to climb the mountain following the thousands lining red bows. The fact of having seen this site without seeking it made me feel I needed to go again.

A la vuelta vistamos uno de mis sitios favoritos. Un lugar que se me quedó grabado en mi primera visita a Japón: Fushimi Inari-Taisha. Recuerdo ir en bici sin destino y descubrir uno de sus toriis, arcos tradicionales japoneses. Aparcamos las bicis sin saber donde estábamos y comenzamos a subir la montaña siguiendo los miles arcos rojos de la bordean. El hecho de haber visto este sitio sin buscarlo me creo la necesidad de volver a verlo de forma más "consciente·.

The Fushimi Inari Taisha-is the main Shinto shrine dedicated to the spirit of Inari, the Japanese god of fertility, rice, agriculture, foxes, industry and success in general. Strongly recommended!

El Fushimi Inari-Taisha es el principal santuario sintoísta dedicado al espíritu de Inari, la deidad japonesa de la fertilidad, el arroz, la agricultura, los zorros, la industria y el éxito en general. Totalmente recomendable!
