Shimokitazawa was another of those places we arrived by chance and we loved it! We were lucky that all the ryokan we went to had thousands of guidebooks available. In one of them we discovered this hipster neighborhood of Tokyo we had never heard before.
Shimokitazawa fue otro de esos sitios a lo que fuimos de casualidad y nos encantó! Tuvimos la suerte de que en todos los ryokan a los que íbamos, había miles de guías de viaje disponibles. En una de ellas descubrimos este barrio hipster de Tokyo del que nunca habíamos oído hablar.
Shimokita (so called in Japan) is about 20 minutes by train from Shibuya. Although is one of the smallest districts in the city, is very popular among young people and followers of Japanese indie culture. In surveys asking young people where they want to live, Shimokitazawa is always on the top three answers. When you arrive, you immediately understand why: small theaters, concert halls, bars and many thrift stores!
Shimokita (como lo llaman en Japón) está a unos 20 minutos en tren de Shibuya. Aunque es uno de los distritos más pequeños, es muy popular entre los jóvenes y seguidores de la cultura indie japonesa En las encuestas sobre donde quiere vivir la gente joven, Shimokitazawa es siempre una de los tres respuestas seleccionadas. Cuando llegas ves inmediatamente porqué: pequeños teatros, salas de conciertos, bares y miles tiendas de segunda mano!
