Topkapı Sarayı

Hello! I've finally found time to write on the blog. I've been quite busy lately and have pile up lots of stories to tell you. Even if you won't believe it, I'm pretty lazy and a sofa fodder... Laziness is stronger than me and sofa and pyjamas are usually my best friends. However, one of my goals this year is to get out more and see my friends more (hello Moriarty, hello Gilbert!). So far, things are going well and I'm piling up posts like crazy! :D

Hola! Por fin encuentro tiempo para contaros las miles de cosas que tengo pendientes... Aunque parezca mentira, soy bastante perezosa y carne de sofá... La pereza me puede casi siempre y, sofá y pijama suelen ser mis mejores amigos. Sin embargo, uno de mis propósitos de año es salir más y quedar más con mis amigos (hola Moriarty, hola Gilbert!). De momento, la cosa está yendo bien y se me acumulan los posts que tengo pendientes! :D

__I don't know if you still remember, but this Christmas I spent a few days in Istanbul :D and I still have pictures to show you. There are two monuments that I haven't show you yet and that are very important: Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia (which I will show you in a future post). Topkapi is one of those sites that are always crowded. So, I recommend you going a few minutes before opening to be the first entering and be able to enjoy its architecture without crowds.

No se si os acordaréis, pero estas navidades las pasé en Estambul :D y no puedo dejar de mostraros dos de los monumentos que la han hecho famosa: Palacio Topkapi y Santa Sofía (en un próximo post). Topkapi es de esos sitios que siempre están llenos de gente. Así que, os recomiendo ir unos minutos antes de que abran para ser los primeros en entrar y poder disfrutar de su arquitectura sin aglomeraciones.

The most recommendable is the harem, home to the sultan's mother, the Valide Sultan; the concubines and wives of the sultan; and the rest of his family, including children; and their servants. The number of rooms is not determined, with probably over 100, of which only a few are open to the public. There was no trespassing beyond the gates of the harem, except for the sultan, the queen mother, the sultan's consorts and favourites, the princes and the concubines as well as the eunuchs guarding the harem.

Lo más recomendable es su harem, donde vivían la madre del Sultán, el Sultán y sus mujeres y concubinas. No se sabe el número exacto de habitaciones que tenía, pero se cree que unas 100. Estaba prohibido el paso más allá de las puertas del harén, a excepción del sultán, la reina madre, las consortes del sultán, los príncipes y las concubinas, así como a los eunucos que guardaban el harén.
